From the report: "Personalized learning platforms—which are online or virtual curricula that differentiate instruction so that the level of challenge of the content is tailored (or “personalized”) to the skill level of the child—have played a role as one way to address these concerns throughout the pandemic. . We know relatively little about which use cases provide the best outcomes for students...we discuss one example of how personalized learning platforms were used in the first year of implementation in an innovative learning environment: the Southern Nevada Urban Micro Academy (SNUMA). In this brief report, we summarize student usage data from the personalized learning platforms used in SNUMA in its first year of implementation and discuss the limitations of our analysis. We conclude by suggesting directions for future research that could enhance our understanding about how such platforms are used—and how they influence student outcomes—in nontraditional settings."
