From the dissertation: "The COVID-19 epidemic created significant challenges in the field of education, especially for low socioeconomic Hispanic K-8 students. The purpose of this literature review is to explore the ways in which school closures impact school-aged children within the school environment and how school psychologists can identify and help support students with learning loss. The focus of this extended literature review is on Hispanic students, despite the fact that gaps in educational experiences and outcomes occur for many students from various backgrounds in U.S. schools. In addition, this literature review also aims to examine the role that school psychologist play in addressing social emotional gaps so that students can achieve academically and experience social emotional success. Broadly speaking, this paper analyzes school closures, the impact on schoolaged children, its effect on academics and social-emotional wellbeing, and the various ways school psychologists can collaborate with various school team members within the school environment."
