Reallocating Instructional Time to Promote Academic Recovery

From the report: "School districts rolled out a variety of interventions to accelerate learning in the wake of the pandemic and once students returned to classrooms. We study a district in metro Atlanta that temporarily eliminated the 45-minutes-per-day typically dedicated to teaching science or social studies for students in Grades K through 2 in fall SY 2021–22 and used that time for additional instruction in math and English/language arts (ELA). We find no evidence that this shift in instructional time led to improvement in math and ELA test scores."
